Natural Magnesium bath flakes vs Epsom Salts. What's the difference?

Lee Harold

I used to think that showering was sufficient and who has time for a bath anyway?

I was wrong.
Everyone should find the time to have a bath. It's a unique space and place and time and anyway, you can't read in the shower. :)

Baths are necessary to have a good soak with magnesium bath flakes. (Interestingly you can get the same results from a foot-bath if you do not have a bath).

A bath with Amazing Oils magnesium chloride bath flakes is heavenly, and a really effective way to get magnesium into your system (some say the best way.)

I am often asked about the difference between a bath with magnesium chloride and the slightly more famous Epsom salts (magnesium sulphate), and it's a good question.

It’s about natural vs chemically produced.

It's all about absorption and assimilation.

We all know that feeling of being absorbed in a really good book. Well, in order to be effective, magnesium needs to become absorbed and assimilated into your body.

Epsom salts (Magnesium sulphate / MgS04) is inferior to magnesium chloride (MgCl2) for this purpose. Less of it is bio-available, and most of it is from China.

This is because magnesium sulphate is rapidly excreted through the kidneys and therefore difficult for your body to assimilate.
On the other hand Magnesium chloride is very easily assimilated and metabolized by the body so much less is required to produce much greater benefits.

The 'Chloride' bit matters.

Magnesium is the mineral of relaxation and rejuvenation. It prevents the calcification (hardening) of our organs and tissues that is characteristic of old-age related degeneration. Additionally it provides many other health benefits.

Magnesium chloride flakes works right away. Using magnesium sulphates is less advantageous because they have to be converted into chlorides in the body. Additionally, whereas Epsom Salts are manufactured in a refinery, Amazing Oils flakes are made by Mother Nature. I won’t mention their name but some of the most famous bath salts manufacturers include the chemical Sodium Laureth Sulphate in their salts which can bring health risks:(

After a long or stressful day, few things feel better than slipping into a lovely deep bath and letting it all go. A bath with magnesium chloride flakes feels amazing as the aches and strains dissolve away and you are getting your optimal magnesium levels topped up at the same time? And the deepest sleep afterwards. All from nature. No added chemicals. Pure. Isn’t that just what your body deserves?
